Participation in the marathon is at your own risk. During the marathon, representatives of the Saaremaa Voluntary Search and Rescue Society from the Abruka and Kuressaare units will accompany the paddlers on their boats as follows:

  • SAR vessels of Abruka and Kuressaare units patrol the open sea area (the area located between Kuressaare, Väike-Tulpe Island and Abruka Island);
  • From the northern tip of Abruka Island to the first pitstop and to the port of Abruka Island (around Abruka Island): three patrol boats at sea;
  • in addition, the border guard ship located in Roomassaare Port is ready to intervene.
We equip most rescue boats with a spare paddle that a participant of the race could use to complete the marathon if he/she has broken the paddle on the track.

Every paddler must know how to swim. At the start of the race, the rescue equipment of each paddler is checked (see terms of participation in the section Register).
