at 16-19: issuing of race envelopes at the race center (Sportland shop at the Ferrum mall, Tallinn street 8)
at 17:00-19:00: safety training in Kuressaare city harbor (free of charge)
at 19:00: start for the kayak hike (3 km) in Kuressaare city harbor's fairway
at 20.00: Estonian Canoeing Federation's moat track 75m sprint, open for all participants
ca 21.30: award ceremony for the moat track 100m sprint
Marathon day (18 July 2026) schedule:
9-9:30 a.m.: those who did not manage to pick up the race envelope at the competition center
on the day before the race, can pick up the envelope next to the memorial statue of Albert Uustulnd at Kuressaare Titerand (Castle Beach)
10:00 a.m.: start for the long and short-distance marathon tracks at Kuressaare Titerand
approx. 11 a.m.: the first paddlers reach the first pitstop
approx. 12:45 p.m.: winners reach the finish line
approx. 1:30 p.m.: the sauna is opened for the participants at the harbor house
approx. 17: award ceremony next to the harbor house
approx. 18: after-party at the Roomassaare Harbor Café
The day after the marathon (19 July 2026):
at 11 a.m.: start for the Kuressaare Castle moat track (1 km; free of charge)
at 12-13: possibility for spectators to try out Olympic boats (free of charge)
If the weather forecast on July 15, 2026, i.e. 3 days before the marathon, predicts a wind of over 8 m/s at the Roomassaare Marina for July 18, the sea marathon is moved to 19 July or (wind below 13m/s) will take place on the alternative and safer track which mostly follows Nasva River, Mullutu Bay, and Kuressaare fairway. If there are unfavorable weather conditions throughout the weekend, the marathon will be postponed to the next weekend. If the registered participant cannot participate in the marathon on the next weekend and informs the organizer in advance (e-mail: meremaraton@gmail.com), he/she can participate in the next year's sea kayak marathon for free of charge or the organizer will reimburse his/her participation fee.
If the marathon does not take place on the originally planned day, we will notify the registered participants of the new race day by e-mail and on Facebook about the changes to the schedule.
- The organizer, in consultation with the Saaremaa Search and Rescue (SAR) reserves the right to change the time of the marathon according to weather conditions.
